 24 Hour Challenge - Pedal/Electric Hybrid Sociable

We had 24 hours and have one of the coolest fabs shops around. All built inhouse by us.

Powered by an EcoSpeed custom motor drive and their Velociraptor controller.

Even under tight time constraints we like to pay attention to the small details. Custom headrest mounts with a Candy Sparkle Red finish to match the main frame.

We built a custom jackshaft so each rider can pedal independantly and the motor can also operate independently. The jackshaft takes all the power inputs and routes power to both rear wheels.

Rear gearing is comprised of two Shimano Alfine 8-speed transmissions.

Center yoke steering combined with direct steer handlebars gives this machine a nice sharp turning radius.

Velocity AeroHeat wheels, Schwalbe Marathon Plus Tires, Avid BB7 Brakes,

Double Schlumpf HSDs in the front.

Four 48V10AH LiFePO4 batteries should provide this machine with about 100 miles of Go Juice.

Each battery has a seerate charging port. The machine is equipped with a hitch for easy trailer hook up.

Matching fenders front and rear.

Normally we use a Problem Solver doohicky to join a single shifter to two transmissions, but we didn't have one and we had no time. So, we made our own.

Each jackshaft support houses two sealed bearings.

Probably one of the beefiest idler clamps we've ever made. It was the last piece on the machine and was needed to tension the power side of the EcoSpeed.

Bottom view of the machine shows the steering arrangement.
