SUN HT-3 HAND AND FOOT CYCLE BY UTCUSTOM
Based off of the 8-speed Sun HT-3, this hand and foot cycle adds another drivetrain and can be powered by the hand cranks, the pedals, or both! Like the HT-3, its long wheelbase provides excellent stability, it can be pedaled with experiencing any wobble, and the 22 inch seat height makes it ideal when transferring from a wheelchair.

ADJUSTABILITY
Like the stock HT-3, the hand and foot cycle is highly adjustable. We designed the bottom bracket for the pedals in such a way that you can move it to different positions along the frame. The custom fabricated boom can be raised and lowered as well to fit riders of different sizes. The seat can also be moved forward or backward by pulling the small lever on the right side of the seat, sliding it to the desired position and then releasing the lever.

BRAKING
The hand and foot cycle has two methods of stopping: a rim brake on the front wheel and the hand cranks. There is a locking brake lever located on the left craml that operates the rim brake. This brake doubles as a parking brake for when you are getting on and off the trike, this is especially helpful when transferring to the trike from a wheelchair.

To engage the parking brake, you need to pull on the brake lever, push and hold the locking pin, then release the brake lever. To disengage the parking brake, simply pull on the brake lever. Another really easy way to come to c complete stop is by simply rotating the cranks backward (toward the rider).

UT CUSTOM DIFFERENTIAL
We're excited to offer the UTCustom Freewheel Posi Differential on the hand and foot cycle. It is the solution to slipping and tire scrub that trumps all solutions. With our differential you can ride anywhere while enjoying increased traction and power to the pedals.

Our design features a standard 16-tooth freewheel with a bolt-on chain ring. The whole unit can be taken apart and rebuilt or serviced, instead of having to replace the whole thing if, for some reason, one of the freewheels fails.

SHIMANO DRIVETRAINS
The hand and foot cycle has two separate drive trains: an 8-speed Shimano Nexus hub that's driven by the hand cranks and an 8-speed Shimano Alfine that's driven by the pedals. Both of these hubs have 8 gears that are housed internally, making them virtually maintenance free. You don't have to worry about a derailleur and you can shift these hubs while stopped or coasting. This is particularly useful with the hand cranks, as it can be a bit difficult to shift while also turning the cranks. The shifter for the front drivetrain is on the right-hand crank while the shifter for the rear drivetrain is mounted on the left side of the seat.

This particular trike is great for riders with limited leg strength, but need exercise to strengthen those muscles. Having the hand cranks allows you to power the trike with your upper body, while providing much needed exercise to your legs.
