Women on Trikes: Celebrating Female Recumbent Trike Riders

One of the most wonderful things about trike riding is that it is enjoyed by people of all different backgrounds. In this article we wanted to highlight a few prominent women who stand out in the triking and cycling communities for their contributions, advocacy, and for their spirit of adventure. Here are just a few of the notable women who have made a name for themselves in the world of trike riding.

Maria Leijerstam

Maria Leijerstam is well known for being the first person to cycle to the South Pole on a trike. She accomplished her ride on a custom built ICE Full Fat. Her 2013 expedition through the Antarctic helped to showcase the versatility and ruggedness of trikes for extreme environments. Her helped inspire many to see trikes not only for a fun ride around the neighborhood but for adventure.

Sylvia (Travels By Trikes)

Sylvia has documented her extensive journeys on her trike, including rides across the United States and international tours. Her blog and social media presence, called Travels by Trike, offer tips, insights, and inspiration for riders interested in long-distance trike travel.

Andrea Peet

Andrea Peet is the first person with ALS to complete a marathon in all 50 states. She accomplished this on her Catrike 700 that was modified to fit her needs. Andrea has helped to build awareness for ALS and for the triking community.

Amanda (National Park Capable)

Amanda is an outdoorsy mom who has mild Cerebral Palsy. She loves to visit National Parks and explore different trails on her UTCustom Catrike Annihilator V-Series! Her goal is to get all people of all different abilities outside and exploring. She can often be found exploring National Parks around Utah and the surrounding states.
