Why Jack Rides a Catrike 559 to Help With Cerebellar Ataxia

Hi. I'm Jack. I am 26 yrs old. In 2020, I was diagnosed with a progressive neurodegenerative disease, cerebellar ataxia, which has already significantly impacted my balance, coordination, swallowing, and speech. I cannot drive and have had to give up most of the things I used to enjoy. However, I discovered I could ride a recumbent trike and a new world opened up. I started with a few laps around my local park on a Catrike Villager. Many miles later, I updated to a Catrike 559.

I got my mom hooked on recumbents as well. She got her first Catrike Villager from Utah Trikes and moved to an Azub T-tris 26 to try and keep up with me.

I like to help people, and I have come up with an idea to purchase trikes for other young people with this disease. In order to raise funds for this, my mom and I will be riding 1500 miles from Maine to Ohio in August and September and ending up at Cycle-Con in Xenia. Maybe we will see you there.
