Our new all-aluminum Quad features rear suspension and a custom jackshaft for multiple power inputs.
Stripped down to the basics, the driveline is being put together with the routing of the pedal and motor chains.
To keep the frame level we went with 20-inch front wheels and 24-inch rear wheels. Disc brakes all around.
The rear axle housing is allowed to pivot providing a limited suspension. The yellow elostomers shown between the housing and the frame provide the dampening.
There is a lot of chain to make this work. In the center of the axle housing is a differential which is connected to the Nuvinci N360 transmission.
All four wheels are equipped with disc brakes for adequate stopping power.
To eliminate the possiblity of any boom twist and minimize any flex we went with a diamond-shaped boom.
The boom is secured in place with our custom clamp.
The steering system uses one upper tierod and one lower tierod.
For electric assist we are using a custom EcoSpeed 1000W motor system.
The Nuvinci N360 transmission uses no gears and provides a smooth power transfer across a 360% range.
The side bars in place will provide an attachment point for dog-running springers on this custom quad.
These rear bars will add even more room for the springer attachments.
Painted and ready to ride.
Shown here with a mock up of the springer attachment system.
